If you are looking for a Similan diving trip to be longer than just one night, but you don't want to commit to a fixed longer diving safari, then our 2-night Similan liveaboard trips could be perfect for you. Our fleet consists of at least two 'flexible/platform' diving boats, plus a few boats which have fixed scheduled trips that sail to the best diving areas of Thailand for 2 nights. These trips also include lower budget level to luxurious. Please note that during high season, the more luxurious Similan diving liveaboards do not offer short cruises to the Similan Islands. However, one visits Hin Daeng & Koh Haa, and a few luxury liveaboards do offer 2-night dive trips dive around Phi Phi and/or Racha during the low season (May-October).
'Platform' or 'Flexible' liveaboard boats are regular ships that stay out at sea in the Similan Islands for most of the diving season. They sail around on set schedules of up to 28 dives per week. While a few of the best dive sites are visited more than once, they generally sail to at least 24 dive sites during a one-week schedule. Depending on which days of the week you join, the boat will be diving at the scheduled areas and dive sites on those days. In the morning of the chosen departure day, divers are taken from Khao Lak’s Tab Lamu Pier by speedboat. After boarding the main ship and diving three times on the first day, four times on the second/middle day, and three times on the final day they return to Khao Lak by speedboat and arrive at the harbour around 5.00pm. In addition to transferring guests, the speedboats also take supplies of provisions, diving equipment, and rotate staff. The flexibility of being able to choose on which day or date your Similan diving cruise begins and ends is probably the most-common reason that so many of our guests choose this kind of trip. It can fit in perfectly with any holiday or flight schedule. The two most popular flexible diving boats of our fleet are Nemo & Camic. Nemo has four-bunk dorm cabins and three double-bed private cabins. Camic also has four-bunk cabins, as well as twin-bunk which share several bathrooms. Camic also has two master cabins on the upper deck, which have double beds and private en-suite bathrooms.
When booking your scuba diving vacation in Thailand it’s a commitment to decide to spend a chunk of your holiday out at sea with a group of people you have never met. Therefore, a 2 night diving liveaboard allows you to experience some of the best diving in Thailand without committing to a long time on board. In addition to our flexible/platform boats, we also have MV Oktavia’s scheduled* 2 Days / 2 Nights 7-dive cruise to the Similan Islands, and several boats offering 3 Day / 2 Night scheduled* trips with a morning departure from Khao Lak and 9-10 dives at some of the best dive sites in Thailand.
*Scheduled trips leave and return on set dates, with the people on board (guests, staff & crew) not changing. The flexible/platform trips have an ever-changing demographic of guests and staff.
Because they are shorter in length than most of our other Similan diving liveaboard cruises, the 2 night liveaboard trips are obviously lower in cost. Also, the platform/flexible boats and most other vessels offering shorter cruises are in the budget & mid-price-range. Guests still enjoy awesome diving, good service, lots of delicious food, safe & professional fun guides, and high-quality diving equipment that is in good condition. The only real loss is in boat facilities like cabin size, bathrooms and covered outdoor communal areas instead of air-conditioned saloons.
A couple of our luxury boats do also offer diving trips of 2 nights. These include MV Giamani and The Junk. Giamani has two-night trips throughout the year, including the high season. Its longer liveaboard trips of 4 Days 4 Nights go to The Similan Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai & Richelieu Rock, then for 2 days 2 nights Giamani sails to Koh Haa, Hin Daeng & Hin Muang. These southern dive sites are not only equal in quality to the best dive sites in Thailand, they are visited far fewer by liveaboard boats, and therefore very likely to have fewer divers at each dive site you visit. This is especially true for the first and last dive of each day because any day trip boats from Phi Phi or Koh Lanta will not be there at such an early or late hour.
In Thailand’s Andaman low season of May to October, Giamani and The Junk have short scuba diving liveaboard trips around Phuket & Koh Phi Phi.
2 night scuba diving liveaboard tours are easily our most popular. This is probably because guests can choose exactly which date to start and finish. Less commitment to stay too long on board a diving liveaboard out at sea is also an important deciding factor. Finally, most of the short diving liveaboard trips & boats are among the less expensive options of Thailand scuba liveaboard trips.
