MV Manta Queen 3 Overview
MV Manta Queen 3 was first launched in 2011, she is a very large ship, and offers the great-value Similan liveaboard diving. Instead of being a modified fishing boat, like some other boats, MQ3 was designed and purpose-built for scuba diving liveaboard trips. In 2018 MQ3 had a major refit and cabin change. Due to popular demand, there are now more twin & double cabins with private bathrooms. With so much space and stability, guests can wander around the decks looking for somewhere to read a book or chill out under the sun or stars. Scuba diving tours tend to be very sociable affairs, so divers often mix together and chat in groups. Even those who join the trip alone will make friends both underwater and on board. All the cabins have air-conditioning and come in different levels of comfort at great-value prices. MQ3 has free Wi-fi. This service is dependent on a cellular signal is not guaranteed for the whole cruise.
There are two four-berth bunk cabins on the main deck and two twin cabins on a higher deck. These cabins share bathroom facilities on the dive deck. There are eight more cabins which have private en suite bathrooms and only take two guests each. Some cabins have two single beds, some have double beds, and a couple can be adapted for twin or double beds. All the cabins on Manta Queen 3 are clean and well planned out. Parquet panelling adds class to practicality, causing some guests to be torn between relaxing out on deck and chilling in bed.
There is a large sundeck outside and saloon inside for socializing and meal times. The diving platform is large, offering space for gearing up and jumping into the crystal-clear waters. Manta Queen 3 goes to the North Andaman, offering dives at The Similan Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock. Diving on Manta Queen 3 is an unforgettable experience, due to the great crew, the ship’s size & facilities, the wonderful diving, and the friends you will make. It really is a boat that compares in size, stability and lulxury with much more expensive others, but still offers the best-value liveaboard diving trips in Thailand.
Nitrox (Enriched air) is available for those who are certified. Of course, taking part in a diving course aboard a liveaboard is very common, and Manta Queen 3 offers a range of PADI diving courses at unbeatable prices.
The trip length for MQ3 is five days and five nights (5D/5N) to the Similan Islands & Richelieu Rock, with up to 19 dives. Other websites that show the trips to be 4D/4N or to the South Andaman are out of date. Plus any websites that claim the trips to be 6D/5N are misleading you. The departure is in the evening, with no diving that day. And the boat gets back late in the afternoon five days later.

The first dive of any liveaboard cruise is very important for the instructors, Divemasters, and trip leader to properly establish how experienced and capable the divers are in the water and to see which of them might need some help. This first dive is always performed at a safe and easy diving spot.
There are up to 4 dives per day for the first 4 days, and then up to 3 dives on the final day.
There is no diving on departure day, because the boat sails into the night.
